Editorial Policy
This page explains how reviews on Prime Betting Sites are produced, what we measure, and what would get a bookmaker removed from the site. It exists so you can judge the method rather than take the conclusions on faith.
We use the bookmakers we write about
Every bookmaker reviewed here is one we hold an account with. That means opening it like any other customer, passing the same verification, depositing our own money, placing real bets that win and lose, and withdrawing the balance while timing how long it takes.
Nothing is written from a press release. If we have not put money through a firm, it does not get a verdict, it gets left out until we have.
What we measure, and why
- Odds and value. Prices compared across the markets people actually bet on, not the obscure ones a firm has decided to lead with. A consistently fair price is worth more over a season than any welcome offer.
- Withdrawal speed. Timed from request to money arriving, on our own withdrawals. This is where the real complaints in this industry live and it carries serious weight in our scores.
- Verification. How intrusive it is, when it happens, and whether the firm asks for the same document twice. A bookmaker that verifies at signup rather than at withdrawal is doing it properly.
- The app and the mobile site. Judged on a phone on ordinary mobile data, because that is how most bets are placed.
- Terms and fairness. How readable the terms are, whether the restrictions are reasonable, and how quickly the firm limits winning accounts.
- The licence. A current UK Gambling Commission licence is a pass-or-fail condition before anything else counts.
Every review names a flaw
No bookmaker is good at everything. A review that reads like an advert is not a review, so each one states plainly where the firm falls short, even where we recommend it overall. If you cannot find a criticism in a write-up, that write-up is not worth your time, here or anywhere else.
Commercial arrangements and the wall around them
This site earns commission when readers sign up through our links. That funding has no bearing on rankings, scores or what a review says. Commission rates are not a criterion, are not consulted when a list is ordered, and no operator can buy a position or see a review before it is published.
Bookmakers we earn nothing from appear on this site when they are good. Bookmakers offering generous terms have been left off it for being poor. Our affiliate disclosure sets that out in full.
Accuracy, and fixing what we get wrong
Offers and terms change constantly, so pages are revisited and updated rather than published and abandoned. When we get something wrong we correct the page rather than quietly deleting it, and a reader pointing out an error is doing us a favour. The address is on our contact page.
What we will not publish
- Unlicensed or offshore operators, whatever the commercial offer, because you would have no protection if it went wrong.
- Invented detail. No made-up payout times, no figures we cannot stand behind, no testing we did not do.
- Systems and guaranteed wins. No staking plan beats the margin and we will not pretend otherwise.
- Anything that treats gambling as income rather than as entertainment that costs money.
